Final Rally in Vienna 1

Final Rally in Vienna
On 20th May our Final Rally took place in Floridsdorf. We had several stations such as a mobile exhibition, a poem, a citymap and a city furniture group. A flashmob at the beginning of our rally made us all visible!
A lot of people participated in our rally especially the people in Floridsdorf. Special guests were our local politician, the headmaster and the head of the parent’s organization.
Read some comments and impressions from our final rally!

City furniture
In the city furniture group, Eva and Lazlo, who work for the “Gebietsbetreuung 21”, were involved. They gave us brochures, to inspire us. We took some palettes and built a park bench. We have separated into two groups: one group prepared the back, while the other group built the base. Eva helped us. At 4pm the district headman came and a picture with us was taken. The weather became worse at the end and we had to do our work faster to avoid getting wet. At 5pm we left the activity area to go home as the last group. We had a great day!
City maps
During our project we worked a lot with city maps. Therefore the class 5B had to ask people about their preferred places or ways around the whole district « Floridsdorf ».
We had to split into groups in order to get as many answers as we could. The teams did their very best and in the end we filled a whole map with the favorite places of some passengers.
The majority of the people who were asked by us answered our questions friendly. However, some of them refused to talk to us. On the whole it was a really great experience. Unfortunately our project has ended but it was a good time for all of us.

Poems
In October we took a walk through Floridsdorf. Our task was to take photos of things that inspired us and to write down all the sounds we heard, for example the rustling of leaves. Later, we had to write poems and use these photos and notes as an inspiration.
First, we headed to Franz-Jonas-Platz and afterwards we went to Schlingermarkt where we could take photos. At these different places, some of us took photos of the city, while others closed their eyes and listened closely to the sounds of the city. It was interesting that we all heard different noises.
A month later, we wrote poems about this experience. Some people wrote about the street names, some about the sounds and others about the weather. It was really inspiring and what we really liked about writing the poems was that it is a great way to express ourselves.
At the final rally we had the chance to read out loud our poems and the poems made by our friends from Luxemburg and Portugal. Although it was very cold when we did these activities, we really enjoyed them. We spent a lot of time together and we are all really grateful to be part of this project.
Points of view
Over the year we had taken lots of photos of different views of Vienna. Then the teachers organised a meeting where the three classes who also took part in the Comenius project talked about how to make themselves visible in public.
We put the pictures on raincoats and went out. We had to ask people which picture they like best. And we should explain them our project. They had to say their opinion of one picture and tell us which.
Younger people didn’t want to talk with us because they said they had no time. Older people were very interested in our project therefore they took time to listen to us.
